Today, as part of the ongoing commitment to uplift ethical standards for the public good, I had the privilege—alongside my esteemed professional colleague Godwin Osagie—to join a high-impact advocacy meeting led by IESBA Board Member, Obichukwu Nwazota. Our destination: the office of Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee.

The lively and robust exchange centered on advancing the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants’ (IESBA) vision: embedding ethical excellence and accountability at every level of fiscal and tax reform. Together, we explored collaborative avenues to integrate global best practices into Nigeria’s evolving tax landscape—driven by a shared purpose to build trust and promote transparency for the wider public interest.

It was inspiring to engage with transformational leaders dedicated to shaping systems where integrity, professional competence, and ethical decision-making are not negotiable, but fundamental. Our conversations laid the foundation for strategic partnerships that will empower accountants and policymakers alike to champion ethical reforms that make a tangible societal impact.

The path ahead is promising—by uniting thought leadership with actionable strategies, we can unlock sustainable value, support effective governance, and set a new benchmark for ethical leadership in the best interest of the public.

The IESBA remains unwavering in its mission to enable positive change through sound ethics, and I am excited to be part of this pivotal journey.
